In a blow for local music fans, we'll all have to wait a little longer for the highly-anticipated ValleyWays festival.

The event - created by Menangle band The Rubens - was set to be held at Onslow Oval on February 19, but ongoing pandemic restraints have forced organisers to push the event back a few months.

The musical festival will now be held on Saturday, September 10, and all tickets already sold will be valid for the new date.

The postponement announcement was made on Friday.

"Following the recent announcement from the NSW Government imposing restrictions on events that include dancing and singing, we have made the tough decision to postpone ValleyWays to September to ensure the event is delivered as it was originally envisioned," an official festival account post stated.

"For many years, we have dreamt of of running ValleyWays in our hometown of Camden and we are devastated to have to postpone the event.

"With the current restrictions in place, we would not be able to put on an event to the standard we had intended, and we are unwilling to compromise on our offering for the artists and fans.

"Whilst disappointed to have to postpone the event, we are excited to have been able to secure a new date in September to bring this festival to our hometown and we look forward to seeing everyone there."

All advertised artists have confirmed their availability to play the rescheduled festival.

That means locals will still be able to see The Rubens, Skegss, Middle Kids, Slowly Slowly, Blessed, Stevan, Becca Hatch, Holli Col, The Dardie Shades, Grace Amos and the winner of this year's Triple J Unearthed competition.

Anyone ticket-holders who can no longer make the new festival date can contact Ticketek directly for a full refund (ticketholders will have received an email on Friday).

Refund requests must be made by February 4.

"We can't thank you enough for the enthusiasm and support for the event," the post continued.

"Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you in spring later in the year."
