Any campers who develop COVID symptoms while at Summernats this week will be required to advise event organisers and to leave the event immediately.
Under the COVID-safety plan which has provided an exemption for the event to proceed, the published advice to anyone who finds they have symptoms is to "pack their belongings whilst wearing PPE and practicing good hand hygiene and should not attend the broader event or any other public place in the ACT".
The reason for sending people home, say the organisers, was "because it is very difficult to isolate at EPIC whilst awaiting a test result, which could take approximately 48 hours".

"In addition, if the individual is a positive case it will not be possible for the individual to isolate at EPIC," the advice added.
"Individuals should seek testing in an ACT government facility as they leave the ACT.
"Individuals should travel directly to their home, making only brief stops at isolated rest areas.
"They should wear a mask and practice good hand hygiene whilst outside of their vehicle".
Masks will be mandatory at all Summernats indoor venues and will be encouraged at all other times when physical distancing is not possible.
All the infrastructure is being assembled at Exhibition Park ahead of Thursday's opening, with scrutineering of vehicles to start at Thoroughbred Park and old Well Station Road on Wednesday.
A surge of late entries for the event, described as Australia's "biggest horsepower party", has already generated a record of more than 2500 vehicle entries.
