Victoria has recorded 2232 new COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths in the 24 hours to midnight.
Case numbers are a big jump on the previous few days numbers which have all remained below 2000 since last Friday, October 15.
There are now 22,889 active cases across the state.
79,544 tests were conducted in the 24 hours to midnight, which is up on yesterday's 78,928 tests.
There were 37,824 COVID-19 vaccines administered yesterday with a total 4,311,454 doses now given across the state.
As Victoria heads towards its 'freedom day' on Friday with Thursday being its final day in lockdown, hospitality workers in Melbourne are scrambling to get vaccinated.
Melburnians will emerge from lockdown at 11.59pm on Thursday, five days earlier than planned, as the state hit its 70 per cent fully-vaccinated target on Thursday morning.

Under the new relaxed COVID-19 rules, people will be able to leave their homes for any reason and travel anywhere within metropolitan Melbourne.
The curfew will be scrapped, home gatherings of up to 10 will be allowed, and hairdressers and hospitality businesses will reopen for the fully vaccinated.
However, in a last-minute change to reopening plans, all hospitality staff must be fully vaccinated to work.
