How to get your vaccine passport on your phone ready for lockdowns to end

As lockdowns end in ACT and NSW, and as Victoria moves toward reducing its restrictions in the coming weeks, the vaccine certificate is something you will need.

In most states, you will need it to enter any business that is not deemed an essential service.

You'll need to make sure your MyGov account is working, and link it to your Medicare account. That's where the information will be held.

If you're in Victoria, you'll be able to access your certificate through the Service Victoria app on your phone.

In NSW, however, trials are beginning in four cities - Tamworth, Port Macquarie, Lismore and Wagga Wagga - to display the certificate in the Services NSW app.

But until that is rolled out more broadly across the state, unless you're in one of those four cities, for now you will be able to access your certificate through the Medicare's Express Plus app.

As the country grapples with the new processes, authorities are warning the public to remain vigilant for potential scams.

All of the vaccine setup will be done primary through Medicare and MyGov. You will never be asked to pay for your certificate or for your vaccine and you will never receive your certificate via text either.

If you do not have a smartphone, you will need to request a paper print out of your vaccine history. Contact the Australian Immunisation Register on 1800 653 809.

But bear in mind, you could be left waiting up to 14 days before you receive the print out.
