Bowral's Walter Scott makes A-League debut for Macarthur Bulls in hard-fought 0-0 draw against Perth Glory

Southern Highlands football fans can now truly say Macarthur FC is their local team after Bowral boy Walter Scott made his A-League debut last Saturday.

Scott came on in the 68th minute of the Bulls 0-0 draw with his former side Perth Glory at HBF Park.

Since being signed by the A-League's newest club last November, locals have eagerly anticipated seeing the 21-year old in action.

Scott's debut was a highlight in an overall uneventful game although Bulls manager Ante Milicic was happy with the clean sheet in perhaps the trickiest away trip in the league.

"I didn't think the game was played with great intensity but was primarily played in transition," Milicic told media post-game.

"They put a lot of pressure into our defensive line, but I thought we handled it well."

Much of that was down to goalkeeper Adam Federici who pulled off a number of fine saves to deny Glory a win.

The former Socceroos shot-stopper was up and about early against a Perth frontline consisting of Diego Castro, Bruno Fornaroli and Chris Ikonomidis.

In fact, one Fornaroli effort could be a contender for save of the year with Federici sticking out a right foot to tip the Uruguayan's shot away to safety.

Macarthur sit in fifth position on the ladder with six matches left to play but with only three points separating them from ninth-placed Wellington Phoenix, they will need to start picking up wins.

They'll have no better chance than on Friday when they travel to face struggling Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park.

The Bulls are next in action at home on Friday, 14 May where they will again face Victory, this time at Campbelltown Stadium.
