Cooling off in the hot summer months will be a breeze in Oran Park, after the official opening of Dawson-Damer Park this week.

The new splash park is Camden's second water play space with a range of water and non-water activities, including water slides, water spinners, a ninja warrior course, swings, trampolines, basketball facilities, picnic areas and much more.

Camden mayor Theresa Fedeli said Dawson-Damer Park was a fantastic facility for residents and visitors to enjoy.

"Oran Park continues to grow, and our local young people now have another fantastic facility which they can enjoy with friends," Cr Fedeli said.

"We now have Macarthur's largest water play park right in the heart of the Camden area and coupling that with the other parts of the park including a fantastic ninja warrior style course, trampolines and a half basketball court, I envisage many people young and old enjoying this facility.

"The water play space is also accessible to people of all abilities, has family change rooms and amenities and been awarded Changing Spaces Accreditation."

Cr Fedeli urged locals to obey social distancing guidelines and stay Covid-safe at the new park.

"While we expect many people visiting the park, it is also important to remember to follow social distancing guidelines and use the QR codes to log in once you arrive," she said.

"It's so important we enjoy ourselves in these hotter months, but we need to do so safely.

"I'd like to thank Greenfields Development Company for their collaboration with council on the space.

"I believe it is a great addition to our local parks and facilities that our residents can enjoy thoroughly."

Greenfields Development Company director Mark Perich said the park was the latest addition to the community facilities available in Oran Park Town.

"Whilst most people will be aware that the park is home to Camden's largest splash park with 30 water features forming this amazing water play space, the park offers so much more with facilities to suit all ages", Mr Perich said.

"The 2.5-hectare park includes dynamic fitness equipment as well as a separate junior and youth play areas.

"The junior play space includes a hammock swing as well as a toddler swing, in-ground trampoline, climbing net and carousel, while the youth play space is home to Camden's first Ninja Warrior Course, with equipment such as a giant pendulum swing, climbing poles and spinning disc along with a double flying fox and half basketball court.

"A formal shaded plaza adjacent to the future commercial centre and civic spaces along Dick Johnson Drive provides a passive recreation space.

"Public amenities, barbecue facilities and picnic shelters catering to family groups with universal access seating will provide spaces for adults to relax and socialise".

The $9 million facility is located at the corner of Dick Johnson Drive and O'Toole Avenue Oran Park and will be open between 10am-7pm daily through spring and summer.
