A few years ago, audiences were treated to the absolute delight that was Happy Death Day.
The horror comedy combined the set-up of Groundhog Day - waking up to the same day every morning - and combined it with a horror slasher.
Now writer-director Christopher Landon is back, after two successful entries in the Happy Death Day franchise, to gift us all with a new mash-up.
Freaky combines your classic slasher with a body-swap comedy a la Freaky Friday.
And, aside from the couple of occasions that the film attempts to give the characters a little more unnecessary depth, it's a bloody winner. Emphasis on bloody.
Vince Vaughn (Hacksaw Ridge) stars as the 'Blissfield Butcher', a Michael Myers-esque serial killer who enjoys murdering teens for sport.
After picking up a cursed dagger during one of his rampages, the Butcher finds himself body-swapped with his intended victim Millie, played by Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies).
A ruthless killer is now in the body of a teenage girl, headed to a school filled with potential victims, while said teenage girl wakes up in the in the gross abode of the Blissfield Butcher, terrifying everyone around.
If you enjoy ridiculous, bloody slashers there's no doubt you'll enjoy Freaky.
The murders come quick and fast from the opening minutes, and there's some really creative and memorable death scenes utilising whatever is around as weapons.
The character-building work for Millie's backstory is a little heavy-handed and unnecessary for such an intentionally silly film, but that can be easily forgiven.
While Newton relishes the opportunity to be a quiet, sadistic murderer, it's Vaughn that absolutely steals the show.
He is hilarious and fun when playing Millie and actually does a remarkably good job of being a teenage girl.
And, for once, it's not a series of hapless girls who fall victim to the killer - it's gross, ignorant jock types who cop the brunt of the murder spree.
Also co-stars Alan Ruck (Cameron) from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
