The 2020 Camden Jacaranda Festival may have been cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
But the iconic Camden tree lighting ceremony will still be going ahead virtually this year.
Last year thousands of happy revellers flocked to Camden for the annual, however Covid-19 restrictions have moved the event online this year.
Camden mayor Theresa Fedeli said the event would be live-streamed on the Camden Council Facebook page at 8pm on Saturday, November 28.
"Christmas is a time of celebration and fun with family and friends, so we are helping our community get into the spirit," Cr Fedeli said.
"Although we cannot all come together and light the Christmas tree on Argyle Street, you can all still join us online to see it come to life.
"Then, in your own time, why not come through Camden and see it looking so beautiful, in a COVID-safe way."
The council will also host several activities to spread some festive cheer throughout December.
Argyle Street will be donned with Christmas decorations throughout December, with residents encouraged to take photos with the decorations using the hashtag: #christmasincamden.
Other activities include:
- Kids can submit a virtual letter to Santa
- Live entertainment promoted within local venues
- Large Christmas photo booth in John Street
- Festive window displays throughout the Camden Town Centre
Cr Fedeli said it was also a great time to support local businesses throughout the Camden area during Christmas.
"Life has been tough for many of us through this pandemic, so why not spread some Christmas cheer and visit your local eatery and shop from your local for presents this year," she said.
"Parents can also get their kids involved and submit a virtual Letter to Santa and we will make sure the letter reaches the North Pole for them.
"While we all will celebrate through the festive season, I also encourage you all to do so safely by following all COVID-19 guidelines."
