Man allegedly resists arrest, police officer injured at Cobbitty home

A man has been charged after a police officer was injured in Cobbity on the weekend.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command were called to a home on Egan Circuit, Cobbitty at 8pm on Saturday, July 25 following an alleged domestic related incident.

A man at the home allegedly became aggressive towards the officers while they speaking to a 38-year-old woman who had allegedly been assaulted.

When officers tried to arrest the 35-year-old man, he allegedly resisted and was taken to the ground where it is alleged a female constable was injured during the struggle.

Further police attended to assist and the man was handcuffed and taken to Narellan Police Station.

The injured constable was taken to Campbelltown Hospital and treated for a fractured finger.

The Cobbitty man was charged with two counts of common assault (DV), resist officer in the execution of duty and assault police officer in the execution of duty.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court yesterday (Sunday, July 26).
