Shadow Minister for Western Sydney Greg Warren says a Service NSW centre was a necessity for Campbelltown.
The Campbelltown MP said the only thing preventing a Service NSW centre from being established in Campbelltown was the state government.
In 2019 the NSW Liberal and National Party government said they would establish new Service NSW centres throughout the state, but Campbelltown was not on the list of promised sites.
The Macarthur Service NSW Centre at Gregory Hills opened in late 2015 after the closure of RMS offices at Campbelltown, Ingleburn and Narellan.
Campbelltown Council recently wrote to Mr Warren about the possibility of establishing a co-located Service NSW centre at Campbelltown Civic Centre.
Mr Warren lauded the council for the initiative but said ultimately such a concept would never have been needed if the state government had followed through with its 2014 promise to build a Service NSW centre in Campbelltown.
Following the council's resolution, Mr Warren wrote to Minister for Customer Service, Victor Dominello regarding the issue.
Late last year Mr Warren also launched a petition to establish a Service NSW Centre in Campbelltown.
Thousands of people have already signed the petition with more signatures being added to the list still every week.
"Myself, council and the entire Campbelltown community know all too well the desperate need for a Service NSW centre to be established in Campbelltown," Mr Warren said.
"The closure of the Campbelltown RMS office in 2015 has caused havoc.
"It is extremely inconvenient to travel from Campbelltown to the Gregory Hills Service NSW centre - particularly for the elderly and mobility challenged.
"I have conveyed those views to the Minister for Customer Service.
"I applaud Campbelltown Council for their recent resolution regarding a Service NSW centre at the Campbelltown Civic Centre, however, ultimately it should not be a burden the council is forced to bear.
"This is an issue caused by the state government so ultimately it is an issue the state government must also resolve."
