The finalisation of our Reimagining Campbelltown City Centre Master Plan is a watershed moment for our community.
As a father of two, I understand the aspirations of parents in our community to ensure our children have access to high quality local jobs and educational opportunities as they grow up. Now, more than ever we need to set our sights on the future.
We want our children to inherit a vibrant city which has preserved and enhanced the green space and heritage that we have all been privileged to enjoy while also creating a cultural and entertainment scene that is reflective of the people who live here.
Our city will be a connected and self-sustainable place that is reflective of its position as the Metropolitan Centre for the wider Macarthur region.
This 20-year vision for the future of our city sets out how we can achieve this with the collaboration of Council, private industry, government agencies and our community.
With the Western Sydney Airport only a few years from opening, now is the time for us to grab our future in our own two hands and make the strides needed to ensure our children have access to the economic, social and cultural opportunities that will spring from this project.
We have already begun work to deliver the Billabong Parklands project at Apex Park, a city-shaping attraction for locals and visitors next to our cultural hub at the Campbelltown Arts Centre.
We have signed a memorandum of understanding with Western Sydney University to explore the delivery of a vertical education campus in our CBD and construction on the Campbelltown Sports and Health Centre of Excellence is already underway.
There are many more exciting projects that will leap from this that I look forward to sharing with you in the future.
I encourage you to read the master plan on our website and find out more about what's in store for Campbelltown.
