Macarthur boy bakes hundreds of cakes for emergency service workers

There is no doubt that Macarthur's emergency service workers have had a lot on their plate lately - and now they can add cupcakes to the mix.

Kruze Rapaea, an 11-year-old Gregory Hills resident, has spent the past two weeks baking up a storm to spread a little joy among the region's first responders and essential workers.

The talented baker has crafted hundreds of home-made cupcakes for the police, council workers and ambulance personnel.

Kruze said he was happy that people were enjoying his cakes.

"I started baking cupcakes when I was three years old - my mum taught me," he said.

"I just love seeing people happy"

Kruze said he was proud to support emergency service workers and his local council.

"I wanted to do something to help the people on the frontline who are helping to fight this virus," he said.

"I have baked nearly 350 cupcakes - it took me about fours."

The young boy's mother, Tepaea O'Brien said she was overwhelmed by her son's generosity.

"He has always been generous - he has always loved helping people," she said.

"During the bushfires it was his idea for us to go out and collect donations for the firies and then he donated his own money out of his business account to help as well.

"He just woke up one day and said, 'I want to bake for the emergency services. I'll use bright colours for the icing so that when they finish work it might just light them up and make them smile for just one second'.

"And it did - we never expected the attention he has gotten. He just wanted to do something nice so he doesn't understand what all the fuss is about."

Mrs O'Brien said Kruze had always loved to bake.

"I learnt to bake when I was a young girl from my grandmother," she said.

"I think it's just a nice way to bring people together and spend some time together as a family."

Campbelltown Police Area Command took to their Facebook page to express their gratitude for the cupcakes.

"This morning a gift was dropped off at the Campbelltown Police Station by an amazing little fella named Kruze," the post said.

"Kruze is 11 years old and started a cupcake business [one] year ago. He thought it would be a nice treat for us all in the emergency services.

"He was right... the cupcakes were greatly received by all here at the station, thanks Kruze!"
