Get ready to celebrate Australia Day in Campbelltown

The Macarthur community is invited to come together for an evening of delicious food, Australiana themed demonstrations, live bands and free carnival rides on Australia Day.

Between 4pm and 9pm Koshigaya Park will host a range of entertainment for kids including face painting and hair braiding, bouncing 'roos, sheep shearing, whip cracking, a large inflatable slide and more.

Campbelltown mayor George Brticevic said the event was sure to be a lot of fun.

"Australia Day in Campbelltown is always a fantastic family event for our community," Mayor George Brticevic said.

"So come down and settle in for a great evening of fun, food and rides while enjoying the atmosphere of live music in the park," Cr Brticevic said.

"I'd also encourage people to join us in celebrating the achievements of some of our outstanding citizens who will be honoured with this year's Australia Day Awards at the civic ceremony.

The civic ceremony will be held at the Greg Percival Community Centre in Ingleburn at 9am.

Several new Australians will also receive their citizenship at a ceremony.

The annual fireworks display has been cancelled this year due to the ongoing bushfires across the state.

"We have made this difficult decision out of respect for the many people who have been affected by these tragic fires in our region and across NSW and to show our solidarity with our neighbouring councils," Campbelltown Council's general manager Lindy Deitz said.
