All-Aussie talent on show for inaugural Out of Bounds festival

A bit of rain didn't dampen the spirits of the excited crowd gathered at Campbelltown Athletics Stadium for the inaugural Out of Bounds Festival at the weekend.

I OH YOU and Frontier Touring put on the all-ages event on Saturday, a first for the Campbelltown area.

Headlined by Menangle's own The Rubens and ARIA award winner Illy, Out of Bounds drew hundreds of people to the Athletics Stadium to enjoy the all-Australian line-up.

The event was the brainchild of Macarthur product Johann Ponniah (founder of I OH YOU), who wished something like this existed when he was growing up in the area.

Campbelltown mayor George Brticevic posted on Facebook that he loved the music festival.

"What a great atmosphere at Out of Bounds Festival," Cr Brticevic wrote.

"It's great to see live music here in our own backyard.

"Thanks to Johann for bringing this event to Campbelltown."

The event started with local south-west performers kicking off the good vibes on the two stages - Jessica Jade on the main stage and Rops1 on Stage Two.

The rest of the line-up was filled out with Clypso, Alex the Astronaut, Graace, Mallray, Trophy Eyes, Waax, Lex Deluxe, DZ Deathrays and Northeast Party House.

The 'Fest for the South West' also did its bit for fire relief.

Organisers released special $69 tickets, where $10 from every sale would be donated to the Australian Red Cross Bushfire Appeal.

Mr Ponniah told the Advertiser before the event that he wanted to do his bit to help out people who had been devastated by the bushfires.

"It's easy to feel helpless in these difficult times, so that's why we wanted to do something to make a difference," he said.

"People really responded well to the bushfire relief tickets. That was just something we could do to assist those who have been affected."

Mr Ponniah is already looking forward to presenting an even bigger and better event in 2021 and is working on a new line-up of stellar artists to bring to Campbelltown.
