An Adelaide man has allegedly attacked a woman with a machete and then forced her to withdraw cash from a bank.

Police on Saturday released an image of Jalal Homsi, 31, who is alleged to have attacked the woman with the machete at Bedford Park on December 13.

He then allegedly forced her to withdraw cash at a bank before she managed to escape and alert police.

The woman suffered a deep cut to one of her hands.

Homsi is known to his victim and described as 190cm tall with a medium build, olive complexion and short black hair.

"Anyone who sees Jalal Homsi is asked not to approach him but report any sightings immediately to police," SA Police said.
