Campbelltown Athletics Stadium will be abuzz with music this weekend for the inaugural Out of Bounds festival.

The event is co-headlined by Menangle band The Rubens and Aussie rapper Illy and will draw thousands of people to the Leumeah precinct.

Presented by Frontier Touring and I OH YOU, Out of Bounds is the first music festival to be held in Macarthur since Secret Garden finished up last year.

I OH YOU founder Johann Ponniah - who grew up in the area - has been working on the event for about two years and said it was really exciting to be in the home stretch.

"We have been really happy with the response," he said. "The festival climate in Australia is really difficult at the moment but I'm really pleased people have got the idea of Out of Bounds.

"I hope people get behind it and we can build something great for the years to come."

Mr Ponniah said he was already putting together ideas for a 2021 line-up and he anticipated that next year's event would be even better and more fine-tuned.

He said preparations for Out of Bounds would not have gone as smoothly without local intern Isaac Lewis.

Mr Ponniah said from the start that he wanted to give someone in the south-west a chance to gain experience and develop a career in the music industry, and Mr Lewis fit the bill.

"Isaac has been invaluable," he said. "He's been that man on the ground who's helped to get the word out.

"When I was looking for someone to take this intern gig, I asked around and so many people recommended Isaac, who's got his own label Waratah Records and is getting into the industry. I can't wait to find the next Isaac."

Mr Lewis said he had learned so much in his time interning and he knew it would be helpful going forward in his career.

He is particularly excited to see local curtain-raising acts Jessica Jade and Rops1 take to the stage on Saturday.

"I'm a little bit biased being from Camden, but I'm most excited to see those guys," he said.

He encouraged anyone who hadn't got their tickets yet to purchase them now.

"This even is in our backyard, why would you want to miss it," he said.

There is a special offer of $69 fire relief tickets available for the show. For every ticket sold, $10 will go towards the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal.

Mr Ponniah said it only felt right to try and contribute to the appeal in some way and he hoped Out of Bounds could make a difference.

Out of Bounds runs from 1pm-10pm.

The all-Aussie line-up also features Alex the Astronaut, Trophy Eyes and Mallrat, among others.

The event is for people aged 15 and up.
