Leumeah man attacked with machete

A Leumeah man will face court today charged with alledgedly attacking his neighbour with a machete.

The man will face an attempted murder charge following a stabbing during an altercation between him and his neighbour.

The two residents of a Middleton Road, Leumeah unit complex allegedly became involved in the violent altercation in a communal area of the building about 8.45pm last night, (Wednesday, December 4).

One of the men, aged 50, retrieved a machete from his unit before allegedly stabbing the other man, aged 37, several times in the neck and body.

Witnesses intervened and the man returned to his unit with the weapon.

Emergency services were contacted and the younger man was taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Police from Campbelltown Police Area Command established a crime scene at the unit complex.

The older man was arrested and taken to Campbelltown Police Station, where he was charged with attempted murder.

He was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today (Thursday, December 5).
