The Camden Musical Society hopes to embrace the region's rich theatrical roots.

The society follows the well trodden footsteps of the Camden Theatrical Group which was formed in the 1950s and led by Dr Liz Kernohan in the 1980s.

In 2019 and beyond, the Camden Musical Society aims to develop upcoming local artists as well as provide a place for production skill development while giving local audiences a professional and first class musical show experience.

Society president Craig Davidson has participated in more than 50 shows across Sydney and the Illawarra.

"The development of theatrical and musical stage experiences is a fantastic way to come together and so many people can be involved in all facets of the production," he said.

"The talent from our area are travelling to other community theatres to perform. We haven't had something like this in Camden for many years."
