Campbelltown will welcome a new pop culture event after Nerd Con was added to the Festival of Fisher's Ghost event line up for 2019.

The pop culture event will be held at the Campbelltown Civic Centre and forecourt on Saturday, November 2 between 10am and 4pm before the street parade starts.

Nerd Con features a variety of local pop culture exhibitors, as well as games, an artist zone and a cosplay competition with prizes up for grabs across the group, individual and youth categories.

Winners of the cosplay competition will have the oppoortunity to showcase their outfit on board the "We Could be Heroes" themed council float during the street parade.

A Nerf Zone will also be held on the front lawn of the council building.

"Nerd Con is an exciting new addition to this year's Festival of Fisher's Ghost," Mayor George Brticevic said.

"There are many people in our area who will often travel into Sydney or further afield for pop culture conventions and events."

The council is hosting the event alongside local gaming and pop culture businesses.

Iconic Nerd owner, Daniel Fisher said he was looking forward to seeing the community get involved in the event.

"It's got a different twist to your standard Comic-Con style event because we've incorporated the street parade into it which will showcase what we're doing to the wider community," Mr Fisher said.
