Some of the world's best young soccer talent is heading to Campbelltown next month.

Campbelltown Sports Stadium will host an international under-23s friendly match between Australia and New Zealand on Monday, September 9 at 7.30pm.

Campbelltown mayor George Brticevic said it was great news for the Macarthur community.

"We're proud to host the next generation of Socceroos at our first-class Campbelltown Stadium," he said.

"It's a really exciting time for Campbelltown as we prepare to welcome Macarthur FC for the 2020/21 Hyundai A-League season.

"These kind of games only add to the sense of anticipation in our community."

Football Federation Australia (FFA) announced this week that the match will be part of a two-game series between the teams. The other contest will be held in Wollongong on September 6.
