A group of Wollondilly women are proving they can match it with Sydney's best Aussie rules players.

The Wollondilly Knights women's team sits in second place on the AFL Sydney Women's division two ladder.

The Knights finished sixth last year and missed out on a spot in the finals by one point.

The Wollondilly players want to cement their strong start in 2019 and prove to be a serious finals contender.

Wollondilly played local rival Campbelltown on Saturday at Monarch Oval and won 6.15 (51) to 2.2 (14).

There was a one goal difference at half time before the Knights came out and stamped their dominance on the contest.

The Knights have three more home games at Wilton's Hannaford Oval before going into the finals.

The side hopes to hold on to its commanding ladder position over the coming weeks.

The Knights will next host the Pennant Hills Demons at Hannaford Oval this Saturday, July 27 at 1pm.
