Home and Away films in Brownlow Hill

Forget Summer Bay - all of the TV action is happening in right here in Wollondilly.

Local fans of the popular Australian soap opera Home and Away may have spotted familiar scenery on their screens this week.

The Downes Family farm in Brownlow Hill served as a backdrop for some of the Channel Seven programs most recent episodes.

Wollondilly mayor Matthew Deeth said Home and Away continued a "long legacy" of TV and movie crews filming in the shire.

"We've had Wolverine filmed in Picton, the Minties ad at Couridjah station and there has been a lot of filming in Menangle," he said.

"I think the shire is popular because it's within the boundaries of Sydney for film crews to do day trips and keep production costs low."

However, the mayor said he believed more TV shows and movies could be filmed in Wollondilly.

"I think the shire is hugely untapped in terms of potential," Cr Deeth said.

"I believe we could use this [filming opportunities] as a tool to promote tourism within the shire."

Filming took place several months ago.

In this week's story line, Jasmine (played by former Bachelorette Sam Frost) and Robbo (Jake Ryan) have just tied the knot.

However, the couple is rushed away from their Summer Bay wedding reception by Australian Federal Police and taken to an undisclosed safe house, which we now know can be found in Brownlow Hill - in real life, at least.

Jasmine and Robbo are in hiding under police guard after an issue from Robbo's past flares up.

The newlyweds remain at the home with their friend Tori (played by Penny McNamee), who is pregnant with Robbo's child, and Robbo's best friend and police officer Lance (Angus McLaren).
