It was a fun day with a serious message.
More than 1200 people gathered in Couridjah today for the Tharawal Local Aboriginal Land Council's annual Family Fun Day to cap off NAIDOC Week.
NAIDOC Week celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as Australia's First Peoples.
Tharawal's office manager Rebecca Jarvis said the event's highlights included a smoking ceremony, traditional dance performances, amusement rides and market stalls.
Ms Jarvis said Tharawal had held the Family Fun Day for "as long as I can remember".
"We had a great turnout again," she said.
"NAIDOC Week is very important. It's not only about celebrating our culture, but about educating the general public.
"It was also a chance to let people know about what we do here at Tharawal and to work together towards one goal."
