P-plate driver caught allegedly travelling at 137km/h on Appin Road

A man's licence was suspended on the spot after he was caught speeding on Appin Road near St Helens Park yesterday.

Campbelltown Highway Patrol Command officers detected a black Honda Civic with green P-plates allegedly travelling at 137km/h in a signposted 80km/h area about 4.50pm on Tuesday.

Police pulled over the Civic's driver after he turned off Appin Road.

Officers issued the man with an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit (over 45km/h), which is a $2482 fine and loss of six demerit points.

The driver's licence was suspended on the spot for a period of six months.

Police also confiscated the car's number plates, which will be held at Service NSW for a period of three months.
