Country claims Macarthur soccer trophy

Camden and Wollondilly's soccer talent can now claim to be best in Macarthur.

Country claimed the cup and bragging rights in Macarthur Football Association's (MFA) 2019 City versus Country challenge at Lynwood Park, St Helens Park on Saturday night.

Two matches were held as part of the challenge's traditional format. Campbelltown's top male and female players represented City against "Country" players from Camden and Wollondilly.

The women's game was held first and the Country women secured a 2-0 victory.

City's Amanda Radmilo (of Ingleburn) was named player of the match.

The City men proved too strong in game two, also recording a 2-0 win. City goalkeeper Braedyn Evans (Gunners Soccer Club) received the player of the match award.

However, Country was announced as the overall winner on home and away aggregate, due to it being a City home game.

MFA chairman Darcy Lound told the Advertiser last week that the City versus Country concept had run for "eight or nine years" and was a popular event on the MFA calendar.

"The day brings association clubs together and highlights the top players from across the association," he said.
