Camden cricketers will soon have a new place to hone their skills.

Camden councillors are expected to approve the masterplan for a Cricket Centre of Excellence at Fergusons Lane at tomorrow night's council meeting.

The plan for the multi-million dollar Cricket Centre of Excellence was developed by the council in consultation with Cricket NSW and Camden Cricket Club.

It is expected to cost $29.1 million.

The cricket centre will be delivered in a staged approach with stage one including one premium cricket field with turf pitches, picket fencing, drainage and irrigation, an amenities building and 70 parking spaces at a cost of $8.35 million.

Stage one is expected to be complete by June 2021.

Camden Cricket Club president Benham Dodd told the Advertiser late last year he was blown away by the proposal.

"It is overwhelming," he said.

"It's fantastic for the club and for cricket in NSW."

Local clubs currently play at Kirkham, Belgenny and Onslow Oval.

The new facility at the back of the Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park will be able to host state level events once complete.

Cricket NSW CEO Andrew Jones told the Advertiser last year they were thrilled with the idea.

"Whether they be community cricketers or aspiring elite cricketers, where they get to play and train every week is central to the quality of their experience," he said.

"So its really important that everyone has easy access to high quality cricket facilities."

Once fully completed, the proposed facility will include:

  • Two premier cricket ovals with turf pitches;
  • One premier oval with synthetic pitch;
  • Flood lighting to two ovals, one for premier sports;
  • Two storey amenities building;
  • New two-lane bridge access to the site;
  • 140 car parking spaces;
  • Training nets with turf and synthetic pitches
