Beloved teacher Peta Willard will be farewelled at Camden's St Paul's Catholic Church this Friday, May 17 at 10.30am after she lost her battle with melanoma last Wednesday.

Mrs Willard worked at Mount Carmel Catholic College and Magdalene Catholic High School and her former students will form a guard of honour at the funeral.

Mrs Willard is survived by her husband Nathan and two sons.

Attendees are being asked to donate to the Melanoma Institute in lieu of buying flowers.

They are also encouraged to wear purple or teal to the funeral - Mrs Willard's favourite colours.

A benefit concert will be held at Camden Civic Centre on Sunday featuring musicians Alfie Arcuri (her former student at Mount Carmel), Luke Koteras and Chris Sebastian.

Lyndal Koteras - wife of Luke and one of Mrs Willard's best friends - is hosting the concert.

She spoke of Mrs Willard's strength on Facebook.

"[Peta was] a much-loved mother, wife, daughter, granddaughter, friend, teacher and mentor that will be missed incredibly by so many," she said.

"Her courage, positivity and fierce determination throughout her entire journey has been inspiring.

"She fought so hard, because she had so much to live for.

"Thank you to everyone who has expressed their thoughts and love, the family greatly appreciates it."
