The Thirlmere Roosters held off a fast-finishing Mittagong Lions to win 36-26 on Sunday afternoon.
The clash at Thirlmere Sportsground marked round five of Group 6 first grade competition.
The Roosters were dominant in the first half, skipping out to a 30-0 lead.
However the Lions mounted a comeback, which eventually fell short. Both coaches would have been frustrated by their team's performance.
Thirlmere only had to wait four minutes to open the scoring, with five-eighth Dayne Craig diving over.
Jacob Loko then crashed over to extend the home side's lead to 12-0.
Jake Mullaney was next to score for the Roosters, capitalising on a superb solo effort.
Kye Madden then dived over, before Josh Bryant scored on the stroke of half time.
Adam Campbell nailed all five conversion attempts as the Roosters led 30-0.
The Lions came out firing after the break, with Geoff McKeown and Rory MacDonald scoring tries to cut the deficit to 30-10.
The Roosters scored their final try at the 60-minute mark, with Josh Bryant completing a double as the home side 36-10.
MacDonald scored his second try with 15 minutes left, before PJ Thorton dived over to cut the deficit 36-22.
Ben Powell scored a try with six minutes left to bring the margin back to 36-26.
However, the Roosters were able to do enough in the final minutes to secure a 10-point win.
The other round five results saw The Oaks defeat Narellan by 30-16, Camden won 26-8 over Moss Vale and Oakdale defeated Campbelltown City by 24-22.
