UPDATE (3.48pm):
A person has been killed in a fiery crash on Heathcote Road this afternoon.
A car and cement truck collided on the road near Sandy Point about 2.30pm on Wednesday, April 24.
The car caught alight after the impact and the driver was trapped for some time.
Police have confirmed the driver died at the scene but has not been formally identified.
A NSW Police spokesperson said the truck driver was taken to Liverpool Hospital with a minor hand injury.
He will also undergo mandatory blood and urine testing.
Heathcote Road remains closed in both directions this afternoon.
Liverpool City Police Area Command officers have established a crime scene and are investigating what caused the crash.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

A person remains trapped in their vehicle following a fiery crash on Heathcote Road this afternoon.
The road remains closed in both directions due to a serious truck and car crash which occurred near Sandy Point about 2.30pm on Wednesday, April 24.
There are heavy traffic conditions in the area.
A Transport Management Centre spokesperson said emergency services and traffic crews remained at the scene.
The spokesperson said motorists should avoid the area if possible on Wednesday afternoon.
"Motorists should consider using New Illawarra Road, Alfords Point Road and the M5 instead."
Residential access is available under police direction and traffic control.
