Will Davison says Tasmania could end Ford's Supercars dominance

The Melbourne 36-year-old recorded 15^th place finishes in the past two Supercars championships but is sitting pretty in fourth after two rounds heading into this weekend's Tasmania Supersprint. 

Davison's 23Red Racing was taken under the wing of Tickford Racing late last year in a move which the 2009 championship runner-up described as a "win-win" situation. 

"You get your confidence up pretty quickly when you start running at the front consistently and then you start raising your expectations," Davison said.

"I'm not getting ahead of myself but I think we're starting to show some true form - now I'm starting to get disappointed with fourth and fifth positions.

"You know when you're disappointed with that you're going well - last year that was like a win and now we've had quite a few already and I want to be in the top three and trying to win races."

Mustangs have collected all six poles and race wins so far this season, with Shell's Scott McLaughlin pocketing five race wins in a dream start to his title defence. 

Davison tipped the Tasmanian round to spell the end of Ford's dominance, saying only a perfect drive would be enough to challenge the likes of 12-time Symmons Plains winner Jamie Whincup.

"I think Symmons has played into the favour of the Holdens the last few years, they're very quick in straight lines so we think this will be the toughest track for us this year - I think our straight line speed is probably not as strong," Davison said. 

"We're working on that really hard but we don't have any upgrades for a few races so it could be a little bit tough.

"Tasmania could be one of our toughest circuits of the year but we're certainly going in there ready to give it everything and anything's possible. We'll just have to do a perfect job and hopefully we can be right up there."
