Campbelltown cops dig deep for World's Greatest Shave: Photos

There was plenty of lost locks - and even a few tears shed - as a group of Campbelltown cops braved the clippers for a good cause this morning.

Several Campbelltown Police Area Command officers lost their locks at Macarthur Square to take part in the World's Greatest Shave.

Several community members also took the opportunity to shave their heads, beards and chests, or dye their hair a funky colour.

All eyes were on Senior Constable Nicole Winley, who was the only woman to have her head shaved.

Senior Constable Winley was supported by her mum Karen, aunty Maree Penberthy and grandmother Vicki Penberthy - who all had their hair dyed for charity.

Before braving the clippers, Senior Constable Winley told the Advertiser that she didn't feel too nervous.

The officer's hair, which was halfway down her back, will now be donated to charity.

"It feels really good and it's great to see such a great turnout of people," Senior Constable Winley said.

"Everyone has got into the right spirit of the day."

Fellow Senior Constable Andrew Thompson was the first cop to get his head shaved this morning.

Senior Constable Thompson said he was happy to support such a worthy cause.

"It's a totally new-look for me, I've never had a haircut like this before," he said.

Emcee Senior Constable David Blom, who also braved the clippers, thanked everybody who supported this morning's event.

"The Campbelltown community is such a great community," he said.

Campbelltown MP Greg Warren (Labor) said the local police deserved credit for taking part in the World's Greatest Shave.

"It's a good display that our cops are doing good things in our community," he said.

Funds raised from the event are still being tallied, but the Campbelltown police hope to raise more than $5000 for the Leukaemia Foundation.

The head shaves were undertaken by JustCuts team members.
