Former Queensland union boss David Hanna showed a drunk woman "no mercy" when he allegedly raped her after taking her home from a bar, prosecutors say.
But his defence has suggested the woman may simply be regretting a "series of bad decisions" after having consensual sex with him.
Hanna is on trial in the Brisbane District Court after pleading not guilty to three counts of rape and another charge of recording in breach of privacy.
A jury has retired to consider allegations stemming from an encounter on March 2017, when the former CFMEU state president met the woman at a Fortitude Valley bar before they went home together.
There is no dispute that the pair had sex, but the Crown argues she either lacked the cognitive capacity to consent or gave no consent at all.
In closing arguments on Thursday, Hanna's defence barrister Mark McCarthy said that after the night in question, the woman may have felt regret.
"You get drunk and you lose your keys, and you take somebody home and you wind up in bed with them, you might later think that's a series of bad decisions," Mr McCarthy told the jury.
"But that doesn't mean you didn't consent.
"The fact that you regret it the next day, the fact you reconstruct a version where it's not your fault the next day, doesn't mean it was the other person's fault.
"They were decisions and they were freely and voluntarily made."
Prosecutors claim Hanna, 54, took advantage of the heavily intoxicated woman and followed her into her home and raped her.
Multiple witnesses, including a bar security guard and their taxi driver, testified the woman was highly intoxicated.
She was in a "drunken stupor" or asleep during the alleged rapes, crown prosecutor Michael Lehane said.
"She was essentially helpless and at the accused's mercy," he said.
"He treated her in a degrading and humiliating way.
"He showed no mercy. He sexually violated her in various ways without her consent."
Hanna testified offering to help the woman get home after bar security told her to leave because she was so drunk.
They took a taxi back to her Taigum townhouse, in Brisbane's north, where he kicked in her front door because she had lost her keys.
Hanna said they had sex and he used his phone to film himself digitally penetrating her, which he says she agreed to.
He says he then continued to use the screen as a visual aid because he couldn't see properly, and later asked her to strike a "sexy pose" for him to photograph.
"(The victim) is clearly unconscious," Mr Lehane said.
"In no way, shape or form could that be suggested a sexy pose, as the accused somehow claims.
"She's out to it."
