South Australian paceman Daniel Worrall says he has a fresh perspective on cricket after a five-month injury lay-off.
Worrall will return to top-level action on Friday when the Redbacks host a Western Australian side featuring the Marsh brothers in a Sheffield Shield match.
Worrall initially returned home from English county cricket in June with a fractured foot.
The 27-year-old then missed the opening rounds of the shield because of back soreness.
"Being injured gives you that fresh perspective," Worrall said on Thursday.
"In the first couple of weeks of injury you think 'I might never play again, this might be it'.
"I have found out over the last few months that the mental side of rehab is the main part."
Worrall replaces swing bowler Chadd Sayers, who is sidelined with a knee injury, while captain Travis Head returns from one-day international duties.
The Warriors have been boosted by the return of Shaun Marsh to join his younger brother Mitch, but Worrall expected all Australian prospects to put their states before their personal Test claims.
"I don't think Australian selection is high on the radar for a lot of the guys in our team," Worrall said.
"Even guys like Travis Head and Joe Mennie who has played so well, guys like Jake Weatherald and Jake Lehmann who are coming through ... we pride ourselves on it, is coming out and trying to win games for South Australia.
"And when we do perform, the selection takes care of itself up above."
