Opener Aaron Finch has backed himself to thrive in all formats despite admitting adjusting to Test cricket had affected his white ball form.
Finch is already feeling pressure to retain his new-found Test spot ahead of Saturday's Twenty20 international against South Africa on the Gold Coast.
The national one-day and T20 skipper will feature in Australia's one-off clash with the Proteas before a three-game T20 series against India starting in Brisbane on Wednesday.
It ensures the burly batsman will only get one Sheffield Shield game for Victoria - against Queensland from November 27 - ahead of Australia's first Test against India in Adelaide next month.
And Finch, 31, is no guarantee of opening for the Bushrangers in the Shield, usually being relegated to their middle order.
Adding intrigue to selection issues before Australia's first Test against India from December 6, incumbent opener Usman Khawaja is on track to return from a knee injury while Queensland's Matt Renshaw's form is demanding a recall.
Finch still believes he can keep his baggy green and contribute in all formats despite conceding Test technique adjustments had affected his power-hitting white ball game.
"In the UAE my technique really tightened up. Those technique changes have probably hurt me a bit in the one-dayers - I am not quite as free," Finch said.
"It's a more focused technique on keeping everything tight and straight and simple.
"It's a few changes that are simple but I feel they give me the best chance in the longer format."
Finch made a successful Test debut in Australia's ill-fated series against Pakistan in UAE last month - 11 years after making his first class debut.
He hopes to make up for lost time by featuring in all three formats this summer after enduring Australia's 2-1 ODI series loss to South Africa.
But the veteran of 96 ODIs and 46 T20 internationals said it would be "disastrous" to look too far ahead.
"I wouldn't say it (playing all formats) is overwhelming," said Finch, who averages 36.58 in first class cricket.
"It's about prioritising what's next. Having one eye too far ahead is disastrous."
Finch had a successful two-Test series debut, averaging 45.25 against Pakistan.
He credited a minor tweak in technique for his Test success but fell away in the home ODI series loss to South Africa with just 59 runs at 19.00.
Finch's Test fate may hinge on the Shield clash against the Bulls.
Asked if he would like to open for the Bushrangers, Finch said: "Honestly I would bat anywhere.
"Having opened in limited overs cricket for a long time helped making that transition in the UAE.
"But playing most of my career in the middle of the order in the longer format gives me an advantage as well - there is no definitive answer."
