One car, four states, 2500 kilometres.
That was the equation faced by Macarthur’s Lisa Scott and her son Brendan during the recent Mystery Box Rally.
The Scotts took on the mysterious four-day drive through outback Australia in late October.
Ms Scott said the pair only found out about their itinerary when they arrived for the rally’s start in Mildura.
“We were given a map but had no idea where we were going,” she said.
The Scotts drove through remote areas of Victoria, NSW, Queensland and South Australia.
Famous locations included Broken Hills, Tibooburra, the Flinders Ranges and Silverton, where the film Mad Max was shot.
Ms Scott said she made lifelong friends in other rally participants.
“Once you’ve done the challenge, you end up becoming part of the rally family,” she said.
The Mystery Box Rally is held to generate funds for Cancer Council.
The Scotts have raised more than $8000 for the organisation.
