Macarthur golfers will soon be able to tee off alongside some of Australia’s top players.

The inaugural Campbelltown Golf Club Pro-Am will be held on November 22 and 23 at the Glen Alpine course.

The two-day event is being held as part of the Ladbrokes Professionals Golf Australia and Pro-Am series.

A pro-am involves professional golfers teaming up with amateurs to play an 18-hole course.

The pro-am will also be used as a fundraiser for people with cystic fibrosis through the Scott Martyn Foundation.

Foundation leader and the club’s head professional Martyn was diagnosed with the genetic condition that damages the lungs and digestive system when he was 13 weeks old.

“People didn’t know much about cystic fibrosis back when I was diagnosed,” the 36-year-old said.

“I have worked hard at managing cystic fibrosis but there has been a lot of behind-the-scenes work involved.

“You can work hard but it can easily go downhill quickly.”

Martyn said his foundation was formed in 2014 and had “$40,000 in the bank” to support people with cystic fibrosis.

He said foundation volunteers received advice from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital doctors on the best places to direct funding.

Martyn said this month’s pro-am would raise funds for adults living with cystic fibrosis.

“I am one of the lucky ones who can work, but others can’t,” he said.

“We are trying to help out with the cost of living and things like medication because it can be so expensive.

“I am one of the lucky ones who can work, but others can’t.

“We hope to raise $10,000 at the event and would like to see that number increase in the years to come.”

Martyn said more than 60 golfers had signed up to play including well-known professionals Aron Price, Andre Stolz and Ryan Lynch.

“We will have a prize pool of $25,000 for this event,” he said.

“Anyone can play on the day, or you can come and spectate some of Australia’s leading professional golfers.”

Cost of entry is $89 per person and sponsorship packages are available.

The club is located at 1 Golf Course Drive, Glen Alpine.
