The Mount Annan Mustangs continue to rocket towards a grand final berth in the NSW Football Champions of Champions competition.

The Mustangs under-14s soccer side moved into the semi-finals stage with a thrilling 1-0 win over Pagewood Botany on Sunday.

Mustangs coach Simon Moore said he was delighted with his team’s performance.

“We showed plenty of grit and determination but couldn’t find the back of the net in the first half,” he said.

“The score was even at half time and stayed that way late in the second half.

“Byron McCallum kicked the winning goal with just 38 seconds left.”

The Mustangs will now face Auburn District in a semi-final at Valentine Sports Park this Sunday, October 14.

A win would see Mount Annan progress to the competition’s grand final.

“We are living the dream and stoked with our effort so far,” he said.

The Mustangs are one of two teams left in the Champion of Champions competition.

The Picton Rangers under-17s boys side moved into the semi-finals with a 2-1 win over Illaroo last weekend.

Picton will now take on Lansvale in a must-win semi-final this Sunday at Valentine Sports Park.

The 2018 campaign is over for Oran Park’s over-45s men’s team following a 6-5 loss to the Belmore Eagles last weekend.
