Long-time friends, family, golfing peers, fans and Victorian premier Daniel Andrews have paid tribute to Australian golfer Jarrod Lyle who died last month.
Around 500 people turned out for the service at the Sands Golf Club in Torquay.
Lyle’s longtime friend and Australian counterpart Robert Allenby addressed the crowd, fondly remembering the man who endured three rounds of cancer treatment.
Allenby first met Lyle more than 20 years ago when the then 16-year-old was diagnosed with cancer for the first time, with the pair quickly grew close.
Allenby referred to his mate as “the most-loved golfer” he knew.
