Martin Gosling has taught thousands of kids in his time teaching martial arts in Macarthur.

The Narellan-based Kenpo specialist will this weekend clock up 21 years of shaping children’s lives.

To celebrate, The Achieve Centre – where he teaches – will host a free family open day.

Gosling said he was proud of what he and his team had accomplished in two decades.

“I am blessed to do what I love,” he said. “So many people don’t get that opportunity. Over the last 21 years myself and this incredible instructor team have positively influenced so many lives.

“The benefits of martial arts reach far beyond being able to protect yourself.

“The self-confidence and character development that we have seen over the years – and still see to this day – is without a doubt what I would like my legacy to be.”

Gosling said martial arts had grown exponentially in Macarthur in the past 21 years, with only two other artists practising in the region when he started in 1997.

“Now the residents of Macarthur are certainly spoilt for choice,” he said.

“There are many great centres around these days.”

The celebratory open day will be held this Sunday, September 23 at The Achieve Centre.

There will be a stack of demonstrations from black belt martial artists, interactive workshops, face-painting, an inflatable obstacle course, free sausage sizzle and plenty of giveaways.
