Wivenhoe scoops another award for retirement living

Wivenhoe Village’s running streak has continued with the Kirkham Rise retirement home named state winner in the Urban Development Institute of Australia Excellence in Retirement Living awards.

The new honour comes on the back of the village winning best most outstanding retirement living development in Australia at the Property Council of Australia awards night back in May.

Wivenhoe, which is a village from specialist company Mbark, won the latest award for its innovation, sustainability and industry leadership.

Mbark director James Robinson was thrilled to accept the award last week.

“We are a small family company that strives to develop retirement communities we are proud of,” he said.

“I’d like to acknowledge our really dedicated team and the opportunity that we have had to develop a fantastic site in the south-west of Sydney.

“It is an honour to receive this award in a pool of such strong finalists and nominees.”

Mr Robinson also thanked Mbark’s partners, the Sisters of Good Samaritan, for “trusting us with a site that has amazing historic and fantastic environmental values that our residents at Wivenhoe can share with the surrounding communities”.

Wivenhoe Village is an over-55s independent living retirement community with 149 prestige homes and landscaped grounds.

It is semi-rural with 13 different styles of homes.

Residents have access to a state-of-the-art facility called The Lodge which features a 50-seat cinema, heated swimming pool, gym and snooker room.

There are still a handful of homes available at the village.
