Schoolyard sweethearts Maddie Butcher and Luke Mirabilio will have a special tale to tell at their housewarming party next year.
Mr Mirabilio proposed to his girlfriend on their new block of land in Denham Court recently.
The couple, both 24, have known each other since kindergarten and have been going out since Year 12.
“It was so romantic and came as a total surprise to me when Luke popped the question...it was a very special moment which I’ll treasure forever,” Ms Butcher said.
“We’re getting married in March next year so we hope that our new home will be finished by then and we can move straight in.”
The couple, who currently live in Fairfield, purchased a 475 square metre block of land at Stockland’s Willowdale development.
The first home buyers have chosen a single-storey four-bedroom house which is being built by Mr Mirabilio’s father Silvio Mirabilio.
Work is expected to begin on the house in the next couple of months.
“We chose to build our new house at Willowdale because it’s close to our workplaces and families in Campbelltown and Fairfield and we really like the nearby parks and open spaces,” Ms Butcher said.
“We’re planning to have a family so it’s great that there already are playgrounds and plans for a new public school.
“The road links are pretty good as well with the M5 and M7 close by, which is good for Luke as he has to drive a lot because of his job as a pharmaceutical representative.
“If we want to use public transport, Leppington Train Station is close-by.”
Stockland NSW residential development general manager Richard Rhydderch said there were a variety of reasons why first home buyers were drawn to Willowdale.
“Our community offers fantastic value with new homes considerably more affordable than the average established home in the Denham Court area,” he said.
“When you combine that with a shopping centre, great parks and outdoor spaces, and our convenient location close to transport links, it’s not surprising that Willowdale is so popular.”
