Spring Farm’s first major chain fast food restaurant opened its doors today.
Domino’s Australia is now open at Spring Farm Shopping Centre.
This is just one of three fast food chains to open its doors in the suburb this year.
Construction is under way at the site of the new McDonald’s restaurant in Spring Farm.
Work started at the site adjacent to the Spring Farm Shopping Centre at 243 Richardson Road, Spring Farm yesterday.
The $3.9 million venue will be the seventh McDonald’s restaurant in Camden once construction is complete later this year.
A McDonald’s spokeswoman said the Spring Farm restaurant would feature a ‘Playland’, party room and digital kiosks.
“It will create approximately 100 new jobs for the local community,” she said.
“The outside of the restaurant will look similar to McDonald’s Emerald Hills.
“However, the Spring Farm interior will have a softer pallet and is only the second restaurant in Australia to have this interior design.”
The new restaurant will include a drive-through facility with capacity for 12 vehicles and two waiting bays, a seating capacity of 76 customers and 34 car spaces including one motorcycle space.
The menu will include the fast food chain’s regular range and McCafe.
McDonald’s requested 24-hour operation however Camden Council voted to restrict the hours of operation to 5am to 11pm.
Last year Camden Council also approved a new KFC at 230 Richardson Road, Spring Farm – beside the McDonald’s location.
A KFC spokeswoman said work would begin at the new restaurant site soon.
“Construction is expected to start in July and be completed by the end of the year,” she said.
“We’re really excited about bringing our great tasting chicken to the area and providing employment opportunities to the local community.”
This will be the fourth KFC restaurant in a five kilometre radius – alongside Narellan, Mount Annan and Narellan Town Centre.
KFC also wanted 24-hour operation, but this was reduced to 10am to 10pm.
Modern-day Macarthur has become a haven for major fast food chains with 14 McDonald’s restaurants, 10 KFCs, six Hungry Jacks’, four Red Roosters and two Oportos setting up shop in the region.
