Powerful performance hits the right note

From the moment she dropped into the splits the judges were hooked.

Miss Powers made waves with her audition for the X-Factor last week.

The Campbelltown performer’s first audition has amassed almost 500,000 views on Youtube.

Philippine-born Andrew Mark Baris, stunned the judges as she belted James Brown’s song, It’s A Man’s World.

Judge Adam Lambert said he was surprised.

“I didn’t know what to expect but that was a big firework of an entry,” he said.

“Your drop split from that first note was like damn - I was really surprised and very entertained. I can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us.”

Fellow judge Iggy Azalea was equally as impressed.

“We’ve seen a lot of performers and this is the most entertained I’ve been all day and I don’t mean that in a gimmicky way at all,” she said.

“I think you truly have a strong vocal and you are great.”

Miss Power’s mentor on the show was Guy Sebastian.

“That was hands down the best opening to any audition I’ve ever seen,” he said.

For the next round of auditions Miss Powers decided to sing a stripped-back version of Irene Cara’s song, Fame.

Unfortunately Guy Sebastian didn’t choose her for his final three, but Miss Powers could still have a chance if Mel B chooses to add her to the underdog team.

The live audition has also been shared by global news organisations.
