Mental health services in Macarthur are in for a boost after this year’s Waratah Day.
Organised by Beautiful Minds, volunteers headed out into suburbs across the region to sell waratah flowers, raising money for acute mental health facilities – including Waratah House and Birunji – and striking up a conversation about mental wellbeing.
Beautiful Minds founder Sandra McDonald said the day, last Friday, went “fantastically”.
“We sold out all the flowers,” she said.
“With 2500 flowers, that’s thousands of people we’ve spoken to about mental health.
“Getting that information out there is going to drive down stigma.”
The day raised at least $5000 for Beautiful Minds.
