To avoid being late for a very important date, be sure to mark down Friday, July 17 in your diary.
That’s when the fabulous folks behind Beautiful Minds — Macarthur’s mental health advocates — will be hosting a Mad Hatter’s Dinner Party from 7pm at Wests Leagues Leumeah.
‘‘It’s going to be really fun,’’ Beautiful Minds president Sandra McDonald told the Advertiser.
‘‘We’ll have professional entertainment and a ‘mad hat’ contest — it’s going to be a really great night.’’
The dinner is raising money for Beautiful Minds’ latest project: updating Birunji, the mental health unit attached to Campbelltown Hospital.
‘‘Birunji currently has no outdoor regime,’’ Ms McDonald said.
‘‘We want to change that — it’s a passion of mine.
‘‘Birunji is under-resourced, a forgotten place — people go there in a state of distress and they don’t have an outdoor area to exercise and get about.’’
Ms McDonald said Beautiful Minds was hoping to provide exercise equipment, volleyball and basketball courts, sensory gardens, music and art therapy areas at the facility.
The mental health campaigner said Birunji was the only mental health unit from Campbelltown to Bowral, and catered for young people from all over Macarthur.
Ms McDonald said they ‘‘desperately need to sell tables’’ to the event, with tickets available for $100 per person.
The dinner party features a three-course meal, with wine and champagne on arrival.
