Macarthur Gardens Retirement Village in Campbelltown played host to number of vintage cars at the weekend, with the village's first Classic Car Show.

Champion 1970s Australian Sprint Car driver Jim Winterbottom - father of V8 Supercar driver Mark Winterbottom - was also a special guest to the village on Saturday.

Lifestyle and Wellness coordinator with the village Ell Gatt said the inaugural car show was ''sensational, absolutely brilliant'' and it was great to see the men of the village, who typically engage in fewer activities than their female counterparts, enjoying themselves.

Twenty-eight cars were displayed, including a 1908 model from Bowral without a steering wheel, and around 300 residents and their family and friends attended.
