There’s a winning feeling at Narellan Vale Public School this week.

The school’s year 5/6 boys rugby league team topped 250 schools in the rugby league State Cup competition to win the grand final on Wednesday.

The boys defeated the team from Scone 12-4 at Campbelltown Stadium.

They made it to the grand final after beating Bateman’s Bay 22-18 in extra time and South Wagga Wagga 32-12.

Narellan Vale principal Michelle Sarjana said it was an exciting win for the school.

“We’ve never had this type of rugby league success in the 20 years we’ve been going,” she said.

“The kids were so excited, taking photos and cheering after the game.”

Ms Sarjana said the grandstands at Campbelltown Stadium were filled with support from both schools.

The game was played on the full-length field, “just like the professional game”, the principal said.

“We also had all the parents out to the game, which was amazing,” Ms Sarjana said.
