I noted recently that our politicians in Canberra have just taken a fat pay rise for themselves, while reducing the pay of battlers.

Yet, these same pollies won’t do the job we pay them to. Parliament needs to make a decision on same-sex marriage – yes or no – rather holding a gutless (and non-binding!) plebiscite that will cost taxpayers about $150 million.

What a useless bunch.

Don’t believe them when they tell you it’s because this issue is so important it needs to be decided by you.

Is it more important than going to war?

Is it more important than climate change?

Is it more important than making home ownership possible for young Aussies?

Is it more important than cutting billions in funding for schools and hospitals, while multinationals pay zero tax?

We didn’t get our say on those issues, that affect us all. Yet a change to marriage law will only affect gay people.

As for Tony Abbott warning his Liberal colleagues that they are “honour-bound” to support a plebiscite, because that is what they promised the voters.

Yeah, good one. This is the same Tony Abbott who promised voters “no cuts to education, no cuts to health, no change to pensions, no change to the GST and no cuts to the ABC or SBS”. Lie, lie, lie, attempted lie, and lie. No honour-bound problems there, apparently.

Do your bloody jobs.
