Macarthur will soon be home to 100 of the world’s best golf courses.
X Golf in Smeaton Grange will provide avid golfers and leisure seekers the opportunity to play on some of the world’s best courses virtually.
Virtual golf uses cameras, sensors and infrared technology to create a realistic gaming experience.
Tahmoor residents and business owners Steve and Asha Jansen wanted to bring the Melbourne-based franchise to Macarthur.
“We noticed a gap in the market because there are no virtual golf businesses here,” Mrs Jansen said.
“We only started playing golf about a year ago so we are relatively new to the sport but now we are golf fanatics.
“We went through a period where there was a lot of rain so we couldn’t golf but virtual golf is just like golf without the weather hassles.”
The new venue will have five simulators.
Each simulator can provide swing data, video analysis and has an automatic teeing system.
A golf pro will also be on hand to provide golf lessons for interested players.
The venue is currently being built but Ms Jansen said they expected to open in late June.
“We will have club hire available but we do encourage people to bring their own clubs,” she said.
“Golfers of all levels are invited to compete and play.
“We can also host parties and functions – people will know when they book the event will definitely go ahead without any weather issues.”
There will also be a licenced bar, a pool table, Fox Sports on television around the clock and on-site parking at the venue.
“We are looking forward to getting involved with the community,” Ms Jansen said.
“We will have something special planned for our launch night but I can’t say what that will be yet.”
