No matter the season, Tiana Mobbs has a team sport to play.
The talented teen is both a soccer player and a futsal player and has shown great dedication to both sports.
But it’s her summer sport – futsal, or indoor soccer – that will take her across the globe.
The 15-year-old has been selected to travel to Spain and the United Kingdom to represent Australia in the sport.
The Gregory Hills resident is excited to make the journey.
“I’ve never been overseas before,” she said.
“I did a competition at school in January and there were a few scouts there and I was selected.”
Tiana was also selected for the Australian team last year, but a lack of funds prevented her from being able to take part.
This year, though, she is determined to make it.
When the team travels to Europe in November Tiana will participate in various training camps, play competition games and even get a chance to attend an English Premier League soccer game.
“I don’t know which teams we’re going to see yet,” Tiana said.
“I hope it’s Liverpool.”
The Bossley Park High School student has been a soccer fanatic for years.
Her love of sport started with soccer and grew to encompass futsal four years ago.
Now the year 10 student travels into Mascot twice a week to train and plays every Saturday.
She loves meeting new people and bonding with her teammates.
Tiana hopes to pick up some more valuable futsal skills when she heads overseas later this year on the 16-day trip.
“In the meantime I’ll be continuing with training and keeping my fitness up,” she said.
Tiana has also represented NSW in futsal for the past three years.
The Mobbs family has created a crowdfunding page to help her pay for the big trip.
The family appreciates any donations that can be made toward the $10,000 funding goal.
